In short: inthedarkroom.org sets no cookies for tracking, statistics or marketing. The site is built as plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript files with no third-party scripts, and so there is no consent banner to click away either.

1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Cookies are normally used to remember settings, keep you logged in or follow how you move between pages. In Norway the use of cookies is regulated by section 2-7 b of the Electronic Communications Act and, where cookies process personal data, by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. Which cookies the site uses
None. This website sets no necessary, statistical or marketing cookies.

Because no cookies are set, no consent is required — and you are spared a banner covering the content the first time you visit us.
3. Third parties and embedded content
The site loads no scripts, fonts, maps or video players from external services. Images, stylesheets and JavaScript are all on our own domain. That means no third party learns anything about your visit while you read these pages.
If you click an email link, your own email client opens. If you send us an email, the content is handled as described in the privacy policy.
4. Server logs and statistics
Like every website, inthedarkroom.org sits on a web server that keeps a technical log of requests. The log is used solely for operations and security — for example to detect errors and attempted abuse — and contains the time, which file was requested, the status code and a shortened IP address. The logs are deleted automatically after 30 days and are not linked to a name, an email address or any other details you have given us.
5. Storage in your browser
The site uses neither localStorage, sessionStorage nor similar browser storage. The forms send nothing on their own: what you type does not leave your device until you press “Send enquiry” yourself, and it is not cached locally.
Your browser may still choose to cache images and stylesheets from the site so that the pages load faster next time. That cache is controlled by the browser, not by us, and is cleared through the browser's own settings.
6. How to control cookies yourself
Even though we set no cookies, it can be useful to know where the settings are. In most browsers you find them under privacy or security:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage website data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and site data.
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
You can also use private browsing or tracking protection. Neither affects how this website works.
7. Changes and contact
Should we later start using analytics tools or embedded third-party content, we will update this page first, and obtain consent before any such cookies are set. The date at the top shows when the page was last changed.
